Mens Health Nursing Certificate Classes

Earlier this year, the American Nurses Association formally recognized Men’s Health Nursing as a specialty area within nursing by approving the Scopes and Standards of Practice for Men’s Health Nursing. This is a milestone achievement, for not only the organization but the profession.

For the first time, men’s health is being recognized as an area of specialty within the profession. We are the first healthcare profession in the United States to recognize men’s health as its own specialty.

This recognition would not have happened were it not for the members of the American Men’s Health Nursing Alliance -- especially AAMN board member Dr. Julian Gallegos and President-elect Dr. Curry Bordelon -- and their leadership in this process.

You may be wondering what’s next in the process?

There is a group of people working through the AAMN's education committee to create micro credentials for men’s health.

The goal is to have the first bundle created and released by October and unveiled at our annual conference.

This project will then create the framework for working with ANCC to create a men’s health certificate. These are all exciting opportunities for the organization moving forward.
