We are pleased to announce our partnership with the DAISY Foundation.

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The Foundation was formed in November, 1999, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). During Pat's 8 week hospitalization, his family was deeply touched not only by his nurses' clinical skill but especially by the compassion and kindness they showed Pat and his family. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was created to recognize the tremendous impact nurses have on their patients and families every day.

Today, DAISY partners with nearly 900 healthcare organizations in the U.S. and beyond to celebrate their nurses all year long. Over 15,000 nurses have been recognized and some 120,000 nominated by patients, families, and colleagues.

The following has been done by both DAISY Foundation and AAMN.
    The DAISY Foundation has:
  • Included AAMN on their new brochure and their new website about our partnership and a link to the AAMN membership button
  • Created a field for gender for all DAISY Award recipients to better track men in nursing and link them to AAMN
  • Sent an announcement to the 758 hospitals and 30 schools of nursing who participate in the DAISY Award about men in nursing and AAMN
  • Provided AAMN a list of men in nursing award recipients so we also recognize them
    In turn, AAMN will:
  • Highlight the DAISY partnership on our brochure, InterAction, website and FaceBook
  • List men in nursing DAISY Honoree's on our website and Interaction
  • Select one man in nursing DAISY Award recipient annually for free conference registration
  • Select two men in nursing DAISY Award recipient annually for complimentary AAMN membership
